6502 Games Board
Recently started reading a book called 6502 Games by the now legendary author Rodnay Zaks, the one behind the definitive guide on classic assembly coding for the 6502 processor. In the book (available to view on archive.org) he describes the basis for a simple gaming platform that anyone at home should be able to build, then he includes the code for quite a few exciting games (for the 70s) and how they work. Anyway, his hardware was intended for connecting it up to a SYM-1 microcomputer though I've gone ahead and added the missing bits so that it can be used with any of my 6502-based computers (RC6502 Apple 1 Replica, RC-ONE KIM-1 Replica and finally the BE6502 Build a 65C02 computer).
The hardware has been split into two: the 6502 Games Platform and the 6502 Games Board. The first one has all of the chips and logic, the latter has all of the switches and LEDs needed to play the games. You'll need both of the PCBs in order to play the games along with one of the mentioned computers. Check out the documentation links for a list of the chapters and games I've already typed and prepared for assembly on a modern computer, with those and the PDF of the original book it's an entertaining way to learn assembly programming as you go along!
